Often termed “deconstructed geometry,” Joaquim Chancho creates networks of patterns, grids and bold colours.

He has been worked since the early seventies asserting that the key elements of painting are the medium and its application. Since 1969 he has participated in numerous individual expositions, including two retrospectives in 1995 and in 1999 at the Museum of Modern Art in Tarragona, and one at the Centre d'Art Santa Mónica in Barcelona.

He is also a long-time professor of painting at the Fine Arts Department of the University of Barcelona. He has exhibited in Brussels, Amsterdam, Zurich, and New York.
